Congratulations to Gracean World Scholars: Andrew Kyle L. Tan, Kylie Danielle C. Sy, and Krystal O. Lim Tiong Soon (all from the GCC Grade 8 honor class) for winning overall 1st place as a Junior team in the Senior Division of the 2019 World Scholar's Cup (WSC) Tournament of Champions held at Yale University, New Haven, U.S.A.
The team also bagged the Overall FIRST place in collaborative writing, 8th place in the team Scholar’s Subject Challenge, 10th Place in the Scholar’s bowl. The students individually and collectively received 37 gold and silver medals as well as individual and team trophies. This year’s Tournament of Champions had 570 participating teams from 60 countries.
By God’s grace, the team who represented both the Philippines and Grace Christian College was recognized for doing so well in spite of being a Junior team competing in the Senior Division (the GCC students are 13 year olds competing with 15-18 year old students).
The WSC is an academic bowl that celebrates learning across a variety of subject areas (special area, history, social studies, science, art & music and literature). This year, the theme of the WSC is “A World on the Margins” focusing on the unsolved mysteries for the special area.
